Muslim Companion (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a 100% free, ad-free Islamic application built for the sake of Allah as an ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah). We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your personal information is treated with the highest standard of security.
1. Noble Purpose & Ad-Free Commitment
- 100% Free & No Ads: Muslim Companion does not contain any advertisements, popups, banner ads, tracking SDKs, or in-app purchases.
- Sadaqah Jariyah: This application is dedicated as an ongoing charity in loving memory of the developer’s mother and all deceased Muslims (هذا البرنامج لوجه الله ورحمة على أمي وكل أموات المسلمين).
A. Location Data (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION / ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)
- Purpose: We request location access solely to calculate accurate prayer times (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha) and determine the exact Qibla compass direction towards the Kaaba (Makkah).
- Processing: Location coordinates are processed on-device or sent directly to standard astronomical calculation algorithms. Location data is never sold, rented, shared with advertising networks, or used for behavioral profiling.
B. Notifications & Alarms (POST_NOTIFICATIONS / SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM)
- Purpose: Used to deliver timely Adhan prayer reminders and daily Azkar notifications at the user’s scheduled times.
- Processing: Handled entirely locally through the Android system’s alarm manager.
- Purpose: Used strictly for uninterrupted Quran audio recitation playback when the screen is locked or while multitasking.
- Control: Full media playback controls (play, pause, skip, stop) are provided in the notification drawer and lock screen.
D. Local Storage & Database
- Offline First: All your reading bookmarks, Khatmah progress, daily Azkar streaks, and custom preferences are stored locally on your device in an encrypted Room SQLite database.
- No Account Required: You do not need to create an account, log in, or provide an email address or phone number to use the app.
3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Disclosure
- We do not sell, exchange, transfer, or disclose your personal information to any third parties.
- We do not integrate any third-party analytics trackers (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or Facebook Pixel).
4. Data Retention & Deletion
- All user progress and preferences reside on the user’s local device.
- You can reset or delete all stored data at any time by clearing the application’s storage in your device Settings or uninstalling the app.
5. Children’s Privacy
Muslim Companion is family-friendly, contains no inappropriate content or user-generated communications, and is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Google Play Developer Policies Compliance
This app strictly complies with all Google Play Developer Program Policies, including:
- Exact Alarms Policy: Alarms are used strictly for user-requested prayer and Azkar reminders.
- Foreground Service Policy: Media playback services are used only for active Quran audio listening.
- Data Safety: Accurate declarations on the Google Play Console regarding zero third-party data sharing.
